Recently, we were in Puurs for a challenging project: the demolition of the roof of the malthouse at Alken Maes. This work, commissioned by Altez, was carried out in close collaboration with Verhelst Machines, where we ensured a safe and efficient execution together.
The project came with significant challenges. The roof of a vital production hall was in poor condition and needed to be dismantled quickly and safely, without completely halting production. Only the section of production directly beneath the work could be stopped per phase, which made our planning even more complex.
The assignment involved the removal of outdated cellular concrete panels that urgently needed replacing. These panels, spread across a roof area of 3,400 m², were removed in four phases. In total, this involved 750 m³ of cellular concrete, equivalent to approximately 430 tons of material.
To ensure the work proceeded smoothly and efficiently, we developed a custom lifting system with steel profiles, allowing for quicker and easier removal of the panels. Despite the poor condition of the roof panels, the great height, and the size of the roof, our innovative approach allowed us to successfully complete this demanding job. The waste was processed directly on-site and continuously removed with a container truck, keeping the area clean and safe.
Thanks to the dedication of our specialized 'Riggers' team, which ensured the precise lifting and removal of the loads and handling of demolition waste, this project was successfully completed. We are proud to have met our client's high standards in terms of timing and safety.
