In the port of Zeebrugge, where every square meter counts, there was surprisingly still an unpaved piece of land at the end of a terminal. Ideal for COSCO to realize an expansion of 8.3 hectares for parking. For a project of this magnitude, the choice for Verhelst Aannemingen was quickly made.

A realization of

The work began with the excavation and sieving of no less than 25,000 m³ of soil. During this phase, large boulders lying on the site were also processed and crushed. The result was an impressive 50,000 m³ of earthmoving, equivalent to 38,450 fully loaded trailers.

Next, our asphalt team took over. They faced the gigantic task of paving an area of 83,652 m². After 1,637 hours of intense work and using 36,138 tons of asphalt, the result is a beautifully laid parking lot that is ready for the future.

This project is a testament to Verhelst Aannemingen's capacity to execute large-scale and complex infrastructure projects with precision and efficiency. The new parking facility not only serves as a vital component of COSCO's expansion plans but also enhances the operational capacity and efficiency of the port of Zeebrugge.

At Verhelst Aannemingen, we are proud of our contribution to the growth and development of major industrial and logistical hubs, such as the port of Zeebrugge. This project underscores our commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation in all aspects of our work.
