Earthworks for the New Sorting Center of Vanheede Environmental Logistics
Challenges and Objectives
Alheembouw, on behalf of Vanheede Environmental Logistics, approached Verhelst Aannemingen for the earthworks of the new sorting center. The site was located at the E403, near the Roeselare-Izegem exit. The main objective was to prepare the site for construction through soil elevation and stabilization to achieve the desired load-bearing capacity. Additionally, the construction zone needed to be equipped with a gravel bed to enable the piling foundations and further construction of the building.
Our Implementation
First, we raised the ground under the building and carried out stabilization work to create a solid foundation. Additionally, we constructed a site road with concrete debris, creating an efficient and safe working environment.
Currently, we are engaged in the detailed excavation for the foundation footings of the new construction project. These precise digging operations ensure that the foundations can be placed at the correct depth and location.
Special Points of Attention
One of the main points of attention during this project was sorting the different soil codes, taking into account possible contamination. To ensure this process was efficient and accurate, we used advanced GPS-controlled cranes. This technology allowed us to excavate and sort the soil layers correctly, enabling any potential contamination to be identified and addressed.
