Koekelare, a charming municipality in West Flanders, is currently the scene of a large-scale infrastructure project. In collaboration with our partners FLUVIUS, PROVINCE OF WEST FLANDERS, and MUNICIPALITY OF KOEKELARE, we are in the process of transforming Oostmeetstraat, Catstraat, and Lekestraat.

The Challenge

Our assignment is clear and challenging: break up the existing pavement and then install RWA and DWA sewers, house connections, and pumping stations. Additionally, we are responsible for the construction of new roads, bike paths, parking lanes, and sidewalks. An important aspect here is ensuring accessibility for residents and dealing with the challenges of natural drainage.

Our Approach

With the combined expertise of our divisions: Construction, Top-mix, Topasphalt, and Machines, we employ a streamlined strategy. Collaboration is central throughout the entire project, with each team member contributing their expertise.

Accessibility for residents is of utmost importance to us. We strive to minimize disruption, keep driveways accessible, and ensure smooth traffic flow. The installation of the RWA sewage system is a particular challenge, requiring us to continuously pump water until the sewer system is finally connected to a stream.

Project in numbers:

  • Route: 2.6km
  • Private disconnections: ±200
  • Concrete pavers: 7650m²
  • Asphalt road: 17,000m²
  • Curbs/side lanes: >10,000m
  • DWA sewer: 3.5km (stoneware 250)
  • RWA sewer: 3.1km (concrete 400 -> 1000)

Interim Report

We are excited about the progress we have made so far and look forward to the completion of this mighty project.
