That Verhelst Aannemingen does not shy away from any challenge is proven by this project: transforming the intersection on the Natiënlaan (N49) with the Kalvekeetdijk in Knokke-Heist into a roundabout. For the bike and pedestrian paths, which run separately from traffic via an underground plaza, the necessary access ramps and stairs are also provided.

Because the construction site is on a busy access road and in a densely populated area, less than 4 weeks have been scheduled for the road construction per phase. Not an easy task given the scale of the work: excavating (and removing) 18,000 m3 of soil, laying sewage systems, and applying 16,000 m3 of asphalt. The first half of the roundabout (with road works) has now been completed. So we are halfway through.
