Working safely is a constant focus in the construction sector. At Verhelst Group, we do everything possible to prevent accidents on our sites. In February, we organized another safety week that was greatly appreciated – and not only because of the fries.

You can learn to work safely ```

At Verhelst Group, we take the safety of our people very seriously. We only work with machines that meet the highest standards and ensure everything is kept in pristine condition in our workshops. But of course, having great equipment is not enough. You also need to be able to work with it correctly, often in challenging environments. Come rain or shine.

During safety week, we therefore organized a series of technical training sessions. Our employees could attend a practical training relevant to their position. This is what was on the program:

  • Training on entering confined spaces for the road works teams
  • Training on the use of construction site machinery for the earthworks department
  • Training on cherry picker and cutting torches for the demolition department
  • Training for riggers for the mechanics of Verhelst Machines
  • Training on forklift and overhead crane for the technical service department

Each training lasted a full day and was quite intensive. Fortunately, we had provided a fry truck at noon. After all, it's hard to stay focused on an empty stomach…

Our beers are in top condition

In addition to the equipment, our people also need to be in top condition if we want to ensure maximum safety at our sites. Construction is, after all, a physically demanding sector. That's why more than 200 employees of Verhelst Group underwent a medical examination. And our workers are fit for their job!
